One Family Owned And Really Nice 1985 Toyota Supra That Is Begging To Become Pro Touring Greatness!

There are only a few import cars that I give a crap about in comparison to the eleventy million cool American cars that I love. And quite frankly, of all the imports I do dig, less than half of them are Japanese if I had to guess. But the Toyota Supra is one of them that I do love. I think it started when my cousin Marilyn had one like this that was light blue, fender flares, the whole deal, back when we were in high school. I worked on it a bunch, and she pretty well destroyed it driving like an ass, but there was something about that car that I just dug. Those and Mitsubishi Starion/Dodge Conquests were the Japanese sports cars I actually liked. So when this one came up on Craigslist, I was impressed. Especially when you realize that it is one family owned, amazingly cared for, and reasonably priced. I sure as hell would rather see my 18 year old daughter driving this thing instead of the $20,000 shitbox Nissan Altima that’s sitting in front of my house thanks to the grandparents.

This particular car has been very well cared for, but it is not original. Suspension, brake, interior, and drivetrain modifications have been done, but all of them tastefully and with good parts. The engine is NOT the original, and has been swapped and at one point turbocharged. The engine was fairly recently rebuilt, and the seller has all the information, receipts, and verification of all work done. Since the rebuild he has been running it NA, but is including the turbo parts as well. I love the inline 6 in these things, and I would be torn as to whether I would do an engine swap on this thing or not. It’s begging for an LS turbo combo of course, like most things, but I’m not sure I would. At least not until I destroyed the Toyota engine!

Here is all the info from the seller:

First, let me say this is NOT a collector’s car (high-mileage and non-stock equipment). It is however a classic 30 year old car in excellent shape which will turn heads whenever you take it out for a drive. This car has been in my family since day one off the dealer’s lot. I’ve personally owned it since 1999. I had a 6m motor swapped in, ran an NA-Turbo conversion setup and daily drove it for most of the years. After the rings went bad, I had the motor rebuilt to stock specs, removed the turbo equipment on the motor (left the electronics connected) and decided to keep it as a weekend car. Quite frankly, I hardly drove the car in the last 5 years which is one of the reasons I am thinking of selling it. Car idles/drives perfectly.
