This Kellison Kit Car Is Hemi Powered And On A C1 Corvette Chassis

This one seems a little odd to us, but we’re down because you don’t see these Kellison kits very often and we dig them. The body on these things is super sexy and cool, with an aggressive in your face look that people didn’t expect in 1957. Jim Kellison, the man behind these cars, was putting things out to the public that were only seen on drawing boards and concept cars of the day and it was awesome.

Based on the single headlights, and a couple other factors, I believe this to be a J-4 model. According to the seller it is on a C1 Corvette chassis, but later J-4s were sat on an X frame that used Corvette suspension at both ends but was not a complete Corvette chassis.

Because the Kellison’s came as a rolling chassis, completely unfinished and ready for many weekends of finish and assembly, the choice of engine was left up to the new owner/builder. We’ve seen them with small block Ford and Chevy engines, Big Blocks, you name it. But a 392 Hemi like this one is pretty f’ing cool if you ask us. We dig it.

If I had this thing I’d put it on a chassis of my own, or use a later Corvette chassis, and go tear it up on the autocross and road course. Wouldn’t you?

This thing is bad ass. And the Vector wheels are worth some money too! If I bought this I would have to buy a van so I could put these on it like the A-Team had.

First of all lose those hideous wheels and replace them with either some Torq Thrusts or some wide-rim Borrani wires. Then lower the supension and beef up the dampers. Put in a quilted black vinyl interior with a dash full of Stewart Warner guages. Then swap the 4-barrel for a tri-power setup and give the car a coat of candy Ford Racing Blue and then you will have wheeled perfection!

Question of the day, was this car ever on the road? Where are the windows? Interior? It would be a wild hot rod!

It appears to me to be an unfinished, never done kit, which makes it really cool because even though it is a lot of work you don’t have to go in and redo someone else’s stuff. I dig it!
