We Would Own And Drive This Honda Civic Wagon In A Heart Beat

That title got your attention didn’t it? Yeah, not the words you expect to see here at BangShift.com, unless there is a turbo LS or something weird under the hood of said Civic Wagon and it’s been converted to rear wheel drive. But such is not the case here! Nope, this is an all original, save for the stereo, wheels, and tires, 1980 Honda Civic Station Wagon that is perfect in every way except for the transmission. It’s an automatic, and we don’t like that. Otherwise it rules!

When I saw this on Craigslist I immediately wished I wasn’t flat broke and could buy this thing because it would be a killer little gas mileage driver for Daphne. Or me! The car started out as a super clean and straight example as you can see in the before photo below. But the paint, wheels, and restoration have been done very very well and the result is a car that is better than new.

Part of the reason we love this thing is because they were new when we were little and we remember them. And of course there is the wagon factor which often plays into our choice in cars. But lately we’ve been digging more and more of the 60’s, 70’s, and early ’80’s imports. Especially those that were rear wheel drive. The possibilities for them are just fantastic. We’ve always loved the Datsun 510, but there are lots of other options out there and seeing more of these makes me wish I had our families Toyota Corona back now.

Not sure I’d be too interested in actually driving it unless it had a K-series and a 6 speed swapped in. Cool wheels, though.

So much want. Spent part of my childhood in a four speed one. Also where power shifting was perfected. Absolutely bullet proof, anvil like reliability.

K-series – and odd choice that.

Rover K-series were banned from my mate’s garage as to change the frequently blown head gasket he had to take the whole motor apart from the oil pan upwards. A V-TEC motor on the other hand would fit straight in and be much much better!

Careful what you wish for…my mum had one, not a wagon but an auto and yes, they look cute, kind of if you squint but…dreary gutless little crapbox other than that. Hers was an auto too so the one potentially fun bit of rowing thru gears at redline in a manual wasn’t even there….pass….

IF it’s had its labyrinthine rat’s nest of emissions control vacuum tubes and valves removed like the cancer they were and the carb replaced with a proper Weber then I’m with you on this.
