Coming To Australia: 24 Hours of LeMons! See What Happens When Crapbox Endurance Racing Goes Down Under!

A few years ago, PowerCruise was exported to the United States from Australia in goodwill. The Aussies knew that we love roasting tires as much as they do, but wanted us to try it their way: louder, faster, and much more artistic-like. And we have embraced it…ok, we here at BangShift have embraced it, anyways. But how do we pay back our friends in ‘Straya? Do we send them badass rock crawlers or overlander-style trucks to go play off-road? Nope. We didn’t want to send them donks, mainly because we’d be laughed at. No, instead we have shipped them the 24 Hours of LeMons endurance racing! Somebody warn the Embassy…

The rules have been tweaked slightly for Aussie racers who have suddenly looked at the rotting corpse of a Mitsubishi Sigma and just had a lightbulb go off: the Aussie dollar figure is a round $1,000 for the car and parts, with safety equipment being exempt from the numbers game. All of the traditional rules do apply (including the Bullshit Factor penalty system for trying to pass off parts as “freebies”) and the racing rules and flags are just like what we’re used to over here. And prepare to get creative…”four blokes who want to run this Falcon into the ground” doesn’t work. Costumes and themes rule the day at LeMons. We’ve seen it all, from a purposely inverted Camaro to a BMW 3-series modeled up to look like a 7/8ths scale “Christine” 1958 Plymouth Fury. The first race is October 27th at Wakefield Park in New South Wales, so if you’ve got the ability to build, go for it, and if you just want to see some near-death vehicles take their last breaths in the hope of glory, get out there!
