Connecting Rods? Who Needs ‘Em! This Kid Barfs Rods From Block And Keeps Drifting

Connecting Rods? Who Needs ‘Em! This Kid Barfs Rods From Block And Keeps Drifting

There are certain minor automotive inconveniences that we have all trooped through over the years. Maybe you had an oil leak that you had to stop and fill repeatedly during a road trip. Maybe you had a Ford that needed to have the starter solenoid jumped every time you needed to fire it up, but chances are you never threw rods all the way out of the engine and continued to beat on the car like nothing had ever happened. That is what this guy did and the video is pretty hilarious, especially the part when his pals extract the mangled rod from down next to the motor.

These kids were our horsing around in a parking lot and the driver in question was having fun ripping donuts and drifting around in his Nissan 240SX car when BANG! The engine went from sounding like a buzzy four banger to sounding like a cement mixer being hit with a ball peen hammer, but there’s a funny thing about that. It didn’t slow the kid down one iota! In fact, the massive amount of fluid pouring out of the engine seems to have made the drifting experience more fun. The engine, although sounding horrible seems to have been running happily enough to keep ripping smokey circles for as long as he wanted it to. Ultimately it grinds to a halt after the guy’s friends start picking up chunks of block off the ground.

After it stops running, everyone converges on the car and all of a sudden they spot the rod lying next to the engine. A guy with asbestos hands reaches in and pulls the sucker right out. There is no sign of a piston or wrist pin, the big end is destroyed, and it is just all beat to hell. No word on how they got the car out of there but we’re guessing there was a rope and giggling involved. Throwing a rod is one thing but chucking one clear out of the block to freedom? That’s another!
