Ford Releases Video Of 2015 GT350 Screaming At 9,000 RPM – We Listen Until Our Ears Bleed

Ford has seemingly embraced performance cars in a way no other domestic manufacturer has lately. With the ever increasing numbers being pumped out of the EcoBoost family of engines, the new GT that is on the way, and the 2015 GT350 and GT350R packing a unique 5.2L V8 engine with a flat plane crank and appetite for massive revs, it is a damned impressive salvo of fun that Ford has produced and will continue producing in the coming years. Until now we have heard a little from the new 5.2L engine powering the specialized and hardcore Mustangs but this is the first time we have gotten to see an actual car on an actual track with a driver ripping actual gears and it may be better than you imagined. Honestly, it may actually be that good.

Ford has not really invented anything with this flat plane engine but what they have done is hark back onto some great engines and they have tapped into a great tool they can tantalize performance buyers with. Ferrari engines were famous for their flat plane engines, Lingenfelter developed a very powerful and high revving flat plane version of the LS engine that they ran in their drag car for at least a season and likely more, and there are lots of other examples in the past as well. The bottom line is that this is technology long embraced by the racing world and some of the reasons become evident in this video. Big revs, which their DOHC engines love anyway are a part of the program. There are lots of factory V8 engines in American cars you can take to 9,000 RPM…once. This one is built to do it and like it.

Press play below, put the speakers to 11 and soak in just how flipping good this thing sounds. The interior looks good, the exterior touches are sweet, and this is shaping up to be one hell of a Mustang. Hey Z/28 owners, hear that? The Ford boys are coming!

I think that an engine that revs to 9K compensates for the low ceiling of the Modular motors.
