Hanging The Tail Out With A Bentley Seems Wrong, But When Chris Harris Meets The GT3R, Magic Happens

The Bentley GT3R is, for lack of a better explanation, the closest thing to a homologation race car you can ever expect to see from Bentley. It’s got a wicked up V8, deeper rear gears with a limited-slip diff out back, and a lot of weight has been trimmed out of it, including the backseat. Care to guess how much the lightened, sporty Bentley weighs in at? Anyone? 4800+ pounds. Yes, that number is correct. It might have 572 horsepower and 516 ft/lb of torque, but it’s also got a significant amount of weight to throw around. Picture a Surburban with a 502 drifting and you’ve got a really good idea of what’s ahead. It sounds out of place for a company better known for making luxury cars for rich people to enjoy as they drive by flipping off the common class, but Bentley has a strong, if not dated, racing lineage that dates back to the company’s early days and currently competes in GT racing, including Blancpain GT.

Chris Harris gets to take one of the 300 GT3Rs out for a walk and for the entire video he seems perplexed that the car even exists. Sure, he can crank it sideways, but was the GT3R worth making? And more importantly, does it do all of the right things?

It’s ugly. It’s overpriced. It’s a pig. It has decals on it like a 1989 Dodge Dakota. (Sorry, Dodge Dakota. You’re still cool with me.) Screw German Bentleys.
