Have Wacky Canadians Actually Developed A Cheaper Form Of Crap Can Racing?! Behold LeMelons 2016

Have Wacky Canadians Actually Developed A Cheaper Form Of Crap Can Racing?! Behold LeMelons 2016

Racing crummy, junky cars has become the quickest growing pastime in America over the last few years. There are now multiple series that produce something like 14,345 events per year. You may actually be racing in one of those events right now and now and not even know it. That’s how big this thing has gotten. As with all things that experience rapid growth, there’s always someone who finds a better way, a new way, an innovative way to do things. In this case it is a group of funny Canadians who has effectively raised the bar while completely lowering it at the exact same time. We present to you LeMelons racing.

Rather than use a race track, these guys have literally plowed a course into what looks to be a wheat field that was “off season” and invited a group of their friends to show up with their most ill-prepared junkers. Like LeMons racing, all of the cars and teams have a theme, there were some penalties assessed, and there was plenty of fender banging and sideways sliding fun in the dirt. Unlike LeMons these guys allow passengers and the whole thing is like one awesome calamity on wheels. Seriously, this looks really fun.

The cars are all complete and utter shit. We’ll just say it like it is. From the Smart car on down, it is junksville but that’s the point. The speeds are relatively low as the course looks like it was designed by Salvador Dali and that’s probably for the best. This is a fun video that profiles the teams and the “racing” action. We may need to find a field. This Canadian aggression cannot go unchecked….plus we want in on the fun.

How would you set up your own personal crap can racing series? Would you limit it to junk from a certain time period? What about certain cars only. Imagine if you will an “IROC” style series for junk ass cars. All used up third generation Camaros or Camrys or some piles like that. Genius, right? Watch this and get your wheels turning.
