Historic Trans Am And Racing Photos From Lime Rock – Iconic Machines On An Iconic Course!

(Photos by Glenn Perry) – When professional photographer Glenn Perry asked if we’d be interested in running a gallery of his photos from the Lime Rock historics weekend that included the return of vintage Trans Am cars to the track, we gave him an enthusiastic yes. We love Lime Rock and have brought you even coverage and other stories from there over the years but we also love vintage Trans Am cars because they represent the zenith of the era where Ford, Chrysler, GM, and even AMC were beating on each other mercilessly via racing.

Lime Rock was the home to one of the great near upsets of all time when the famous “Grey Ghost” 1964 Pontiac Tempest of Herb Adams and crew nearly beat an entire field of factory backed racers in the early 1970s. Over the years, the short and tight course has played host to many amazing road races via the ALMS series and others, but to see these thundering old beasts on the the course is really great.

Glenn Perry is a great photog as evidenced by these shots. He captures the scene in the pits, the action on the track, and all the while translates that neat Lime Rock vibe through the photos. We’re pumped that he offered to share these photos with us! Check ’em all out by hitting the link below!
