Labor Day Racing Footage: Irish Drifting? Yeah, It’s Real And It’s Good!

Labor Day Racing Footage: Irish Drifting? Yeah, It’s Real And It’s Good!

When I went to Ireland two years ago, to say that I was disappointed with the automotive culture I saw around would be an understatement. Nothing I was used to, none of the forbidden fruit minus one spotted Ford Focus RS…yeah. By the time I was flying back to the States, I’d had my fill of Ford Transits, Renault Lagunas and Ssangyong Rextons. Did the Emerald Island even have a car culture? Apparently they do, and I missed every single, solitary ounce of it. Of all of the things you’d expect to be popular in Ireland, drifting isn’t the obvious answer, but throwing Nissans and BMWs around like toys has become Ireland’s motorsport of choice, and more and more people in the sideways community are taking notice. If you think the only things Ireland has to offer is whiskey, Guiness, potatoes and funny YouTubers, hit play below on the video and see for yourself. Something tells me that hauling ass on roads that get rained on the majority of the year has molded these drivers into perfect drift candidates.
