Neat Old Video: The Six Wheeled Tyrell P34 in Action Circa 1976

Back in 1976 one of the weirdest and coolest professional race cars of all time, the Tyrell P34 Formula One car, was unveiled. Featuring six wheels instead of four, it looked like something that would never work, but it did, if only in spurts. Issues with the small front tires and other small problems plagued the car through it’s two year life span. Luckily we found some kick ass video of it tearing around tracks during it’s heyday.

Way back when BangShift.com first sprang to life we wrote a feature on the history of the Tyrell P34 that explores a lot of the details on the car. It’s a freakshow that actually worked, which in our book is the best kind.
