Racing A Fiat 500 Around An Indoor Go Kart Track Looks Like More Fun Than We Can Describe

Racing A Fiat 500 Around An Indoor Go Kart Track Looks Like More Fun Than We Can Describe

K1 Speed is a large, multi-state chain of indoor go karting facilities that guys like us love to hang out at. There’s few things more entertaining in the winter than escaping for an afternoon with your pals to go slicing and dicing around a sinuous, indoor kart track. We’re thinking that most of you have driven at a place like K1 if not a K1 facility itself because there are locations to do this stuff all around the country. Some of these places are huge with multiple tracks and multiple levels of karts ranging from the standard cruising model to the heavy duty, full tilt racers that can run well north of 70mph.

Apparently the guys at K1 decided that they wanted to spice things up a little bit and decided that having a few Fiat 500s show up and run the course would be a fun time. Boy were they right! This video shows the Fiats hauling, screeching, and flinging around the track with a go kart driver thrown in for good measure. We’re not sure if the idea here was anything more than a stunt or not but can you imagine the ability to plunk down a few laps to do this with a Fiat 500 Abarth? Don’t get us wrong here, we’re not cheering on the badassedness of the Fiat, but in this circumstance we’re not sure there is a more perfect car to use to zip around a course designed for go karts…indoors!

This video totally brings to life something we have all thought about time to time at a go karting facility. Wonder what would happen if…..type stuff. We want to replicate this stunt using Cadillac Fleetwood sedans just to get the completely opposite experience that the Fiat drivers did. They were small and nimble which is fun, but boat like and huge has its advantages too.

Pretty cool! Those are great tracks. Indy has one, or at least had, that runs up onto a second story, and then back down to the main floor. Great fun! I traded off my Fiat 500 some months ago when it became obvious that it was beginning to act like…well, a Fiat.

“we’re not cheering on the badassedness of the Fiat …” LOL wut, why not? We own one and it’s more fun than any car we’ve owned, so much so that we’re selling our Corvette.

The Abarth is the true spiritual heir to the Neon SRT, with Italian brio and amazing handling. I dice through traffic without guilt, unlike the Corvette where driving faster than prevailing speeds feels a bit douchey.
