Rally Lesson: Watch How This Finnish Rally Rollover Is Turned From A Fail To A Win

Accidents happen in rally racing. It’s one of the risks of blasting through wooded areas on some of the worst possible roads in powerful cars. But if a driver does have an accident, and the car is still mobile, they generally go out of their way to get the car back into gear and get the tires spinning. It’s just the nature of the beast: it’s not over until it’s over, and that usually requires the loss of the entire drive system before that happens.

In this video, you have driver Jari Huttunen and co-driver Marko Vartiainen blasting through the Finnish woods in an Opel Astra Gsi at the Runni Rock Ralli. After catching a snowbank and rolling the Opel twice, Vartiainen finds himself on all four wheels pointed in the right direction. So with just a flick of the wipers to clear off the snow, mud and loose glass, he presses on, just as hard as he was running before the quick gymnastics session. Just one more reason why we love rally racing!

  1. Old Mopars Rock

*Rally drivers are brave, and their copilots even appear to be braver, nerves of steel, they are crazy, fun to watch.
