The RideTech Report: Event Season Has Begun, Custom Rides, Video, New Projects, and More

While some of us are still waiting for the big event season to kick off, the team at RideTech has sprung hard into action and come out of the blocks firing. Last week they were displaying at Barrett-Jackson, they were at the Grand National Roadster Show, and the crew back at home were cranking away as well. The 48 Hour Corvette upgrades and updates continues, the engineering team has been putting their time into developing a StreetGrip system for Tri-5 Chevrolets, and there was even a nasty new Roush Mustang that got some RideTech magic.

The full RideTech report is below. There’s some cool tech video, customer car mini-features, a featured dealer, and a cool link to see the entire event schedule that RideTech will be following in 2016. Check it all out in a tidy format below!

It’s Been A Busy Week At RideTech
New Development, Barrett-Jackson, and More

There’s always something going on here at Planet RideTech!  This past week, we finished an install project on a 2016 Roush RS3 for a customer; it looks so good, we’re going to be sorry to see it go!  The R&D team is busy working on the upcoming StreetGrip system for the Tri-5 Chevy, and they’re really coming along.

This past week also found the RideTech crew displaying at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale; along with record-breaking attendance, we also held hourly drawings for StreetGrip t-shirts…and one lucky winner, Dominic H., received a full StreetGrip system!  Dominic plans on documenting the whole install, and we’ll proudly bring that to you as it becomes available.
Stay tuned for more informative news from RideTech!

Here are some of the lucky winners who signed up at our display and won

It’s sometimes difficult to believe it’s been nearly a year since we went from a rather plain red Corvette, through at fast and wild thrash of a build, and then through a whole season of racing and tuning and racing some more.  This project has done so many great things for all of us; we secured thousands of new impressions for our sponsors at myriad events, and here at the shop, we were able to develop many new products in our C3 Corvette line.  From our TruTurn system to our StrongArms and MuscleBars, we’ve got lots of proven winners!  Click HERE to see more of what we offer for the whole family of Corvettes!

As we speak, the 48-Hour Corvette is still in a state of suspended animation; builder/driver Chris Smith and his crew were working hard at Barrett-Jackson this weekend, but they will be back on the scene and picking back up this week.  The first planned event for the 48-Hour Corvette is in precisely one month, at GoodGuys Scottsdale; we hope you are able to come out and see her tearing up the track again!   We’ll continue to bring you up to speed on the project every Tuesday, or you are welcome to follow along for updates on our Facebook page!

From mild-mannered, high-setting, rough-riding run-of-the-mill Corvette…

The early Camaro/Nova front ends have very poor suspension geometry…the tires lean outward around turns, the bumpsteer is bad, and there is little room to run a wide wheel because of the OEM steering arm interference with the inside of the wheel.  The TruTurn system resolves ALL these issues…the tires now lean INTO the turn, the bumpsteer is UNDER .050″ through 5″ of suspension travel, and you now have clearance to run up to a 10″ wide wheel with a 275mm tire!!

With the TruTurn system, no modifications to the OEM subframe are necessary; however, you WILL need to create clearance on the inner wheelhouse and fender lip. These modifications can be as simple or as elaborate as your talent and ambition dictate; but if done nicely, are practically invisible.

The TruTurn system can be added to your existing RideTech suspension. If you already have RideTech spindles, the upgrade package would include the steering arms, draglink bracket, and tie rod assemblies. While it is possible that the OEM arms or another brand of tubular control arm could work, we cannot guarantee fit or performance on anything other than RideTech StrongArms.

Some OEM suspensions (especially older musclecars) can have a lot of bumpsteer…as much as 1″! Imagine the toe setting on your car changing unpredictably as you go down the road! The TruTurn system nearly eliminates this situation…the bumpsteer is less than .050″ over the entire 5″ of suspension travel.  This leads to a very stable and comfortable feeling vehicle.

As well as having excessive amounts of bumpsteer, most older OEM suspensions will lean the compressed wheel OUT when turning. With the TruTurn suspension, the compressed wheel will lean INTO the turn, keeping the squarely on ground thereby offering more lateral grip AND offering a more stable turning experience.

RideTech is committed to offering the best quality products available. Working with Turn One, we are now able to bring you the same quality steering products used on the 48-Hour Camaro!

Started in 1997 by founder Jeff Roethlisberger, Turn One is a family owned and operated business that knows steering.  All of their products are made here in the USA, and every product is custom-built to suit your needs…AND dyno-tested to ensure on-the-job performance!

12.7:1 and 10:1 600 Series Boxes

For applications including 78-88 G-Body, 64-72 A-Body, and 67-81 F-Body, Turn One’s performance model steering gear is the best base model gear on the market.  They use Saginaw 600 gears that are 5lbs lighter than traditional Saginaw 700 gears. Turn One’s technicians tune every gear to have precision left/right balancing, and dyno test them to make sure that everything is working to the highest standard.  The rack and pinion valve technology improves the on-center feel to give you more control over your vehicle.

Coupler and Inverted Flare Kits Also Available

We also offer the rag joint half-coupler for 3/4″-30 spline for the 600 series gear.  This coupler is necessary to adapt a stock steering shaft to the 600 steering gear.

The O-Ring To Inverted Flare Adapter Kit includes 3 flare adapters to convert late-model GM o-ring type steering boxes and pumps to the inverted flare seat.  This is needed when using stock-style hoses on the 600 series box.
