Take A Look Behind The Scenes Of Gymkhana Eight Through The Lens Of Larry Chen!

It is one thing to have a GoPro or a movie-quality camera focusing on the driving antics of Ken Block…it’s hard to miss the action when it’s being recorded. But taking still shots of the action…now, that’s something that takes top-tier skill to do properly, so it’s no surprise that Larry Chen was invited out with the Hoonigan team to Dubai to work with the crew to capture photos during filming. The conditions were hot (think a warm summer day in the South: about 88 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity) and special permissions had been set up with the Dubai Police to make sure that filming went off without a hitch. This meant closing main thoroughfares, helicopter rides and long days of filming, shooting and coordinating to make sure that no time was wasted from the second the project kicked off to the wrap-up. Larry’s photography speaks for itself, as it always does, but it’s his perspective being behind the scenes of an automotive phenomenon that makes for an excellent read. Shame that he only just touched on the cheetah that sat shotgun in Ken’s Ford for a few minutes…certainly there had to be more excitement than a bunch of cat hair, right?
