The Mind-Blowing, AWD, Jet Hot “Double Down” Is Heading To Auction – What Do You Think It’ll Sell For?

The Mind-Blowing, AWD, Jet Hot “Double Down” Is Heading To Auction – What Do You Think It’ll Sell For?

Call me names if you want but I think that this is one of the coolest hot rods built in the last two decades. The Jet Hot high performance coatings Double Down by Bryan Fuller Hot Rods is the 1932 Ford I’d own if I had been smart enough to invest in Apple around 1982. The huge slicks on the corners, the all wheel drive setup, the Kurt Urban built Boss 429 engine, and all of the amazing custom metal work make this car unique among the thousands and thousands of Deuce roadsters ever built. Fuller also managed to work some cool design elements into the car as well. The tightly placed headlights are neat, the exposed chassis tubes in the drivers area are great, the bare metal body with sparing paint on it spins our crank and the list goes on.

As mentioned in the title, the car is to be sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction this winter and while that makes us sad on one hand, we’re hoping that the new buyer scores the thing and uses it on the street, the autocross, and wherever else they want to take it. Not too many road miles have been racked up on this thing since it was built so it is high time for Double Down to gets its legs stretched…repeatedly. Before an ownership change the car was intended to be run at land speed events and all kinds of stuff (with additional cage work) but it has largely been living in a warehouse to this point.

Two questions for you dear readers. First! How much do you think this car will sell for at auction? Second! If you were to buy it, what is the first thing you’d do with the Double Down?

Get at look at the Double Down in what it likely its last SEMA appearance –

    Oh, Nice!
Last I’d heard about DD, it was only partially complete and intended to do some kind of cross-country excursion.
I hope that the prospective new owner lets this amazing piece of machinery stretch its legs and not just stay cooped up in the garage.

While this is definitely a cool car, at auction I really would not expect this car to reach even $80K. Just a little too different for most tastes, and this car never really garnered much media attention. Fuller is a fantastic fabricator, but I would bet that his hands were tied for a majority of this project.

Sorry but you are very very wrong he was given full control of this build and the cost was no object it is very unlikely anyone will ever build a 32 that can match this one, I say this being the only person to drive it other than Fuller P.S. 80k wouldn’t buy the front suspension and yes its is fast 0-60 is in the 1 second range it is scary very scary fast

First thing I would? AWD burnout of course! I think this car is so far out if the box, people just can’t grasp the idea. The QuaddraDeuce was a cool car back in the day but this thing looks brutal!

    I want! I want! I want!

Very cool car no doubt, my question is? With all that traction and horsepower, what drivetrain piece is it going to puke out on the pavement the first time you stand on the throttle? It looks delicate.

It will probably bring $100,000-120,000. That is likely half the build cost.

First thing is to lose all the logos and cut back on the steam punk cosmetics and oddnesses. Sometimes little thingies hanging out “make the car” but on this one I think they just “make the car weird”. Get it down to one or two colors. You can get a huge improvement for low dollars.

Lose the funky looking gold and stainless header and muffler combination for something a little sleeker & more in tune with the rest of the car. I know they were supposed to play off of the wheels but it just don’t work for me.

Same for the headlights – they look too rat rod/trailer park for this ride. Bury something inside the grill or something – but get them out of there.

Then go and drive the hell out of it….

I’d give 50 cents as its all show and no go as it would fall to pieces the first time you hit the gas! Still, as a rolling advert it should make its builders some serious bucks – and I think that was the whole point of this exercise in automotive insanity!

I have taken this car to 150 no problems its no light wight its made to drive and its glued to the road the gravel it throw up from the tires are still on the floor I can promise this is no trailer queen

First thing is get it away from barrett ripoff.

When are people going to stop spending a 75% premium for anything from these hucksters? How about an article detailing the drop in resale value for vehicles bought from them?

I think some of y’all should be drug tested. I love everything about this car/piece of art. Everything except for what I will expect to be it’s $180k + price tag. Who ever buys it I’m begging you to let me drive it just one time.
