This 1966 Polara Convertible Is A Big Block Powered Cruiser and Ready Made Parade Float

There are some cars that you do not buy for speed, you do not buy for handling, and frankly you don’t buy for bold styling. There are some cars you buy because you just want to enjoy the road, enjoy your friends, and surround yourself with a wall of steel it is literally impossible to buy today. That’s the case with this 1966 Dodge Polara convertible. Packing a 2bbl 383 engine, nice white paint, an automatic transmission, and seating for an orchestra, we’d have a blast just cruising with our pals in this one.

The car is an older restoration but that’s not to say it is showing any signs of falling apart. Quite the contrary, actually. The photos of the interior, engine bay, and underside of the car show it to be amazingly clean and basically spotless.

Dodge did not exactly go crazy when styling this car. It’s square looks are cool but the backside of the car is the best and most impactful area, visually speaking. We love the layout and shape of the twilight bezels back there. They make the car seem even wider than it actually is.

We don’t think it would be 100% wrong to cruise this thing with the 383 for a while while you built a kind of cheater/sleeper big block for it, right? Nothing too far out of the ordinary but perhaps one of those low RPM engines designed to make the kinds of torque a locomotive does. You know, something just stiff enough to melt the rear tires for a couple of blocks. Seems like a good idea, right?

If you know me you know I love the big C’s…would love to own one this monty….and for the love of god stop trying to pull 383’s out of every mopar you post with one damnit…no, wait…go ahead…gert rid of those 383’s…just let me know where you put those “boat anchors” so I can…anchor my boat…yeah…thats it…anchor my boat.

Umm, the 383 already is a cheater/sleeper big block engine. Shorter stroke than a 440 with same bore. With 3.23 gears you can roast some rubber even with the 2bbl carb. Seller doesn’t seem to know very much about C bodies, so could be a screaming deal or could be caveat emptor.
