This Commercial Featuring Legendary Driver Sir Jackie Stewart Cements His Place As One Of The Coolest Guys Ever

Sir Jackie Stewart was one of the best race drivers of his era, he was a tireless advocate for improvements in safety for racers, fans, and tracks, he’s a freaking knight, and he was also a spectacular racing commentator on TV. We got an email on this spectacular anti-drinking and driving ad that Heineken beer made featuring Stewart through the years and we think it is brilliant. While combining classic racing footage from the era when Stewart was on top of the world and adding some fun effects to get the point across we see the famous Scot in a fun and fantastic way.

Sometimes ads like these can be heavy handed and weird but not this one. We really enjoyed the integration of the classic racing, the Heineken brand, and the message they are getting across.

Stewart was not a driver who advocated for safety while never having wrecked himself. His stories are legend. Once he landed in the foundation of a house off the course of a track he was running. They could not find him and when they did the ambulance got lost on the way to the hospital. Racing safety in that era was laughable and best and horribly negligent at worst.

So here’s a unique, cool, and ultimately bad ass anti-drunk driving ad featuring classic racing footage and the legend himself, Sir Jackie Stewart.

I wish he was still doing commentary on open wheel racing. He was at open wheel racing what Steve Evans and Dave Mac were to drag racing.

  3. Roger Bowen

Classic Sir Jackie professional to the core Why can’t some of the current drivers conduct themselves in the same manner Roger Bowen.
