This video is great for multiple reasons. The first is that we get a great view of the action INSIDE a dirt modified, which is something totally nuts in an of itself. Along with the action we get a little craziness as well when the car we’re riding in ends up on its side while trying to avoid a multi-car wreck on one of the corners. You’ll want to watch this one a couple of times because between trying to watch the driver saw at the wheel relentlessly to the other racers lifting their left front tire when they come out of the corners, there’s a lot going on. We don’t have much dirt track racing up here in New England so when the chance comes up to watch some when we’re on the road, we always grab it. Drifting doesn’t have a damn thing on these guys. Watch how close they come to each other while sliding sideways through the corners.

Lots of racers say that dirt oval racing is an addiction that you never really recover from and after watching this we can understand why. Aside from the fact that the cars are fast as hell, there’s the whole angle of having mud, clay, rocks, and whatever else the tires of the guys ahead are kicking up, the sound of all those small blocks roaring away, and the proximity of the race cars to one another. The amount of actual driving that the guy has to do is astounding as well. Maybe if you’re up front it is a little different looking, but this dude is constantly swatting bees in there! Pay attention to the steering wheel and the orange tape stripe on it that denotes the “straight ahead” position. Watch how many times that wheel is in said “straight ahead” position over the course of this video. This guy rules. He’s sideways, bashing the wall, and ultimately on his side and A-OK. We really want to drive one of these bad boys now!
