By now you have likely heard of David Meyer’s incredible Northern Bel. This is the car that was built at Rad Ride by Troy, employs a 1,600hp twin turbocharged 526ci Chrysler Hemi, has run Drag Week, has ripped off 9-second time slips, and has achieved speeds of over 208mph at the Ohio Mile. All of this while being perfectly streetable and weighing in at more than 4,800lbs when David is in the car. It is truly a masterwork and one of the greatest muscle cars ever built. The connection he and his dad have to the car is pretty awesome as well. Hell, the hood on the thing came off of Meyer’s own Belvedere that he drove to high school all those years ago.

This episode of House of Muscle is cool because it really is an homage to the car. Troy Trapanier is interviewed to talk about the process of creating the car, Meyer is also interviewed along with a cameo appearance from his awesome dad. Mike Musto brings his normal levels of excitement and attitude to this video which we certainly approve of.

Having seen this car both at Drag Week and at the Ohio Mile we can tell you with no fear of contradicting ourselves that it is the most versatile and awesome muscle car we have ever personally laid eyes on. The thing looks just as composed at 208mph as it does at 55mph and when it rips down the drag strip in less than 10-seconds people who write it off as some kind of a show car eat crow by the bucket full.

Northern Bel is an amazing car and this video is an awesome way to see what it is about and more importantly why David Meyer was compelled to build it. Cars are cool but when you learn the stories behind them they get even cooler.

Note to the TransAm mangler – this is how you build a classic car without losing its identity and making it faster and quicker….

Awesome car! Now someone has to do this to a ’64 Fury or Belvedere and paint it Petty Blue!

Awesome is right !! The 66-67 were my favorite B bodys. Esp the 66 coronet 500 loved the side trim.. Had one in my teens un fortunately sold it during the 70’s gas crunch.

His builds all have the same look, and the $40 steering column truly takes the cake. What a waste.

I had a 67 Hemi GTX. 14X7.75 bias belted tires, smoke em if you got em at 50 mph. It was a # match car, so, I was afraid to beat on it. This build is cool cause it maintains the look but stretches the envelope on performance. COOL CAR!!
