Viva Las Vegas 2017 Coverage: More Fresh, Never Before Published Photos Of The Show

(Photos by Wes Allison) – One of the neat things about our Viva Las Vegas 2017 coverage is that you are kind of getting a walk though automotive design history with every group of photos. The way that manufacturing, engineering, and styling evolved is fun to watch and you can see it in groups of cars like these. The designers have always been pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to actually make and that’s not a knock on the manufacturing side of the business but the capability of actually being able to manufacture things depends on the technology of the day.

As that technology advanced the ability to form panels and assemble cars in different ways allowed the basic designs of the 30s to be become the bulbous lines of the late 40s and then the flamboyant designs of the 1950s which you’ll see plenty of in here. Social moods, fashions, and other things all play into design but unless you can actually produce what the creative mind is seeing, the design is a waste, right? There’s lots of beautiful sheetmetal to see here. Enjoy it all.
