Want To Buy The Worst Living Buick Regal T-Type In America? We Think We Found It!

Want To Buy The Worst Living Buick Regal T-Type In America? We Think We Found It!
(Words and photos by Greg Rourke) – On a small local car lot this morning I spotted this gem. This might be the worst Buick Regal T Type left on the planet.
I’m far from a Buick aficionado, so I took a few pics and did a quick look on the Interwebs. We all know about the turbocharged Regal Grand Nationals, but apparently in 1983 they changed the name to T Type, then went back to Grand National for 1984. This example showed a Texas inspection sticker from 1984. After that it appears it was stored submerged in salt water until recently. And sitting outside with the t tops missing didn’t do the interior any favors.

I didn’t attempt to open the hood to see if the turbo 3.8 was still present. I probably could have just stuck my hand through the hood to see. We all know the street racers love G bodies for their full frame rear drive architecture, but I think they will all take a pass on this one. All the left coast car magazines who complain about what they think are rough shape cars they start with should see what we deal with here in the Rust Belt. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to see about a tetanus shot.

Gas monkey would clear coat it as is, then try to get $20,000 for it. Some idiot would pay it.

I was just thinking….when you’re from Michigan, this doesn’t look so bad!

Fix all the bodywork then paint it so it looks exactly the same as it does in the photos. Uprate the brakes and suspension then swap in a GN-standard motor and transmission.

I’m only interested in the wheels. Throw in a 69 Charger and you got a deal!

To be in Texas and that rusty, I thought it would have had to have been in the Gulf.

Your wrong about the changing the name in 1983 or 1984.
You could order a Grand National or a T-Type. It was your choice. I am the original owner of a 1987 white T-type. Same as a Grand National except the T-Type was about 60 lbs lighter because of the alluminum rims as opposed to the GN steel rims.

That is a rusty p.o.s. there but to get a grand national you had to order the t-type first then the grand national package,as it was basically an apperance package with alot of power accessories.Still alot of good parts left.
