Watch An Uber Driver Hit 236 Straight Green Lights In New York City

This is an odd video because while nothing very exciting happens it is enthralling to watch. This is doubly so if you have ever had to battle your way through crowded city and got stopped by a red light every block or so. Uber driver Noah Forman captured what could be the greatest run of green lights in the history of driving while out and about at 3am in New York City recently. Forman had his cell phone set up as a dash cam and it catches his run of “luck”.

My first job out of college was driving a truck. I went all over the place but ultimately spent lots of time in downtown Boston wrangling the rig through the old streets and neighborhoods. There would be days when you caught three lights in a row and felt like you should have bought a lottery ticket to celebrate and other days when you could to go six feet without coming to a dead stop. We cannot imagine what was going though Forman’s head when this streak really got rolling. Sure, doing it at 3am is obviously an advantage but even still, it would not have taken much to interrupt the mojo and bring this run to a halt.

I use Uber pretty frequently when on the road and have always enjoyed the experience. Many of the drivers are interesting people and the whole vibe is very different than hopping in a cab. That being said, New York City is probably one of the few places where someone can actually be out and making money with Uber at 3am! I have caught some late rides from home the airport before but that’s crazy late!

Have you ever been stuck behind someone who’s trying to time the lights? Here’s the problem, it takes time for traffic to start moving so they completely impede the flow and screw the people behind them. And now, you’re encouraging this. Bad Brian, you must now post an update on one of your cars in the forum… sorry, I know that’s really harsh – but standards must be kept.
