We have run lots of videos of guys wrecking cars on tracks like the Nurburgring over the years and while it stinks that they crashed, they wrecked on the damned ‘Ring. You tell your grand kids about that. This guy? He smashed his junk up trying to drift poorly at a speedway where he hit what was quite literally the only thing to hit in the whole place. Those guys who banged ’em up on the ‘Ring look like Fangio compared to this guy.

Overtly we have nothing against drifting and in fact we love to hang the tail out in a car. We’re not exactly fans of the sport but we respect the guys that do it and if you want to get out there and have some fun with your street car, why not right? That seems to have been the program that this guy was participating in when it all went wrong for him about 20 seconds into his adventure. The one plot twist we did not see coming was the exit of four (total) people from the car. We get having a passenger in there with you but it seems a little weird to have a full load of people in the car when you are trying to throw it around and drift, right? Were they commuting and happened by a sign for this event?

You will see the car twice after whacking the tire an the door/rear quarter is mangled. The thing does still roll though so there was at least that. Now, the real story (which we don’t have) is what happened after this. Did the dude claim hit and run? Did he just drive to a body shop hand them the keys and tell ’em to call when it was over? If he did claim it was some mysterious force of nature that destroyed his car we wonder if he got away with it. Hell, he’s a BMW guy so maybe he is getting away with something already.

The good news here is that all four helmeted passengers made it out OK and the only thing hurt was the dude’s already wide wallet. Think he tried this again?
