Classic Video: Watch Tony Stewart Give the Single Greatest Post Race Interview in NASCAR History Back In 2012

Tony Stewart is one of the greatest NASCAR racers ever. We’d actually say that he is one of the greatest American race car drivers ever because he has been in sprint crs, Indy cars, and other stuff, not just stock cars. Stewart is a fearsome competitor and also has no problem speaking his mind. He’s traded blows, both physical and verbal with other race cars as well as NASCAR itself during his career, but his post race interview from Talladega in 2012 is the stuff of legend.

Since the guy is in his swan song season we figured it was time to look back on what could very well be the best post race driver interview ever. We’re going to miss this guy dropping stuff like this on television but it is pretty cool to know that he’s still going to be racing the wheels off of cars around the country in far more grassroots environments.

Stewart, straight faced talks about how the fans got cheated out of seeing big wrecks, how the track should be made into a figure 8, how he feels that he  lets the fans down every time they tow back to the shop without a couple hundred thousand dollars in junked up race cars, and he seems 100% genuine, while we all know he is just breaking balls.

NASCAR amazingly did not fine Stewart at the time as they did not believe the comments were “detrimental to stock car racing”, which is perfect because that means Tony succeeded in blatantly waving his middle fingers at NASCAR brass without getting busted. To us, this is the single greatest post race interview of all time.

Press play to watch Tony Stewart give a post race interview for the ages!

Tony is the man. I got to watch him race sprint cars at a small local track in Michigan a few years back. No one in the crowd knew he was there until an epic last lap 3 way battle for first had him come out as the winner. Everyone lost their minds. The guy is 100% about the love of the sport

yeap. the sign said beware of dog but i went in anyway, i cant believe that dog bit me! play stupid games win stupid prizes. could have just stood at the edge of the track and told him he was #1 or settled it up in the pits after the show.

Yes, this was great, but, without a doubt the greatest post race interview ever was given by Jack Hewitt several years ago at a sprint car race, at a track I don’t recall. He called a spade a spade and left nothing to imagine! Jack and Tony are both cut from the same cloth – the real deal, and tough to the core!
