We’ve Reached A New Low – Watch This Bumper Get Destroyed By A Traffic Cone

Well, the cone did have one tiny advantage going for it and that was the fact that it was apparently filled with concrete. Yeah, that may explain why it removes the front bumper from this little Ford like it is its job and with absolutely no remorse. The best part of the whole thing are the guys recording it who cannot stop themselves from laughing like hyenas the entire time. Every guy in the world knows this scenario. You are out with your friends and something bad happens to you. Being the supportive and nice guys that they are they do the natural thing and laugh/mock you the entire time. When the young driver climbs out of the car it cemented the fact for us that his buddies were taking the video. Been there, suffered through that (thankfully before the age of cell phone video).

Concrete or not, doesn’t it seem like the car comes apart like one of those old snap together models. The ones that looked good on your bureau and the second you breathed on it the thing blew up like it was packed with an M80 or something? We live in a world of stuff that is clipped and otherwise just stuck together. Bolts would have cost month and likely would have held the front of this thing on for another 10 seconds or so before giving up, right?

Who remembers the good old days of bumpers so big and heavy you could punt bison with them sans a care in the world?!

Plus, having owned a first generation Focus – they really ARE put together like a giant snap-together model in a lot of areas.

Careful what you wish for. The last time we “bitched” about that was the early 70’s. Did you like the solution the govmint/auto industry provided?

You obviously haven’t been paying attention, all modern cars have bumper covers that are “snapped” on. All of them. Bumper covers are considered “sacrificial” to automakers and insurance companies, all that’s important is protecting the driver and passengers.
