What’s Better Than A Draguar? How About A 502 Powered Larguar?

What’s Better Than A Draguar? How About A 502 Powered Larguar?

People have been stuffing Chevrolet engines into Jaguars for a long, long time. While the classic E-Type machines were largely spared of this fate, tons and tons of 1970s and 1980s Jags were Chevy swapped when their original engines bought the farm and were discovered to be far too expensive to replace. The Roadkill guys took their notoriously hot running blown small block Jag out and about for big time fun and the whole concept is pretty neat. Lots of the swapped cars are not exactly machines you would be clamoring to have in your possession, but this one may be a little different.

We’re calling this Jaguar XJS the Larguar because it is a big car but also because it is packing a 502ci big block crate engine under the hood, some big rear tires that live under fender flares, and it has a big Chevy logo right smack dab in the front of the car. The wheels are not bad, we’d remove the pin striping, and then we would tune that big block up to make some real power and go kill on the strip with it. Most of the kids on a test and tune night would not have a freaking clue at what the hell this thing is, making the runs all that much more fun to pull off.

The interior of the car is pretty much perfect looking, the paint is great, and the price isn’t bad either. How quickly would you put nitrous to it?

Why do I always cringe when I read the words “V eight” in connection with a motor swap in a British classic car? Because I know that some numbskull has put a hunka Chevy shit under the hood that’s why. Still this thing’s about 5,000 miles away from me so at least I never have to see it……

If you weren’t supposed to put chevy engines into jags , they shouldn’t have came from the factory with TH400s . I would agree that in no way should anyone put a ford v8 in one…….well at least till after the point that ford bought them .

I hear ya Gordie, but…..’British’ and reliability and/or big horsepower don’t really go together. JTR is awesome. I’d consider it a compliment this is chosen as a fitting wrapper. My 16yr-old agrees with you though. He wants an XJ for a daily.

There was an E-Type running with a BBC at Beaver Springs in the 80s. Probably one of the “English Brothers” cars if I had to guess.

Well I don’t have 16K in my bank so it doesn’t matter but it looks to be a good buy.. 502 crate motor is probably 10K in of it self.. and it is a clean car !!!
