Whenever we see cars or trucks with racing team insignia on them, you look to see if it is genuine. And in the case of probably half, or more, of the stuff you see on Craiglist or eBay, it’s all fake. But not this one. The seller bought this cool 1971 GMC Suburban with hopes of fixing it up and getting it back on the road. Unfortunately that never happened, but now it’s for sale after sitting for the past six years. We’re pretty sure we could be driving this thing in less than an hour, listening to the sounds of that wondrous big block and that it wouldn’t take much to be driving it daily. A little bit of help on the dents, put not a touch of paint, would do it for me. What do you think?

Here is what the seller has to say about it:

This is a ’71 gmc suburban. It’s 2wd and powered by 454/350. It has 3 side doors and a tailgate style rear door. I bought this from across town about 6 years ago, drove it home and it’s been sitting ever since. The radiator leaked on the drive but it did make it. It has some body damage from an accident it was in with the previous owner. I changed the wheels and tires to a set from a late model Chevy truck so they would all match and hold air. The 454 has been built up but I don’t have any details to share about that. Good for a project or for the drive train. I’m asking $2500. Clean title and has a non-op .Text or call Dennis 760 265 1073.

That is a great deal for any 67-72 burb. Especially with a mostly running big block. Not even a “fame” mark-up. I’d be all over this if I wasn’t broke as hell and living in Hawaii.

Can’t even find these in NY. They barley exist. I bought my 70 suburban from Virginia last year. So I’d pay that all day long. I have to pay about 1400 extra to ship it.

I just bought this! Can’t wait to get wrenching on this. I’ve been talking to Dennis for about 3 weeks on this. I’m shipping it from california to NY and going to leave it the way it is with some light body work to straighten it out a bit.

Sweet! If you happen to find a pair of tailgate emblems in your travels I’d kill for one. Tailights and backup lights are the same that are on the early vans. From the pics the floor looks pretty solid. Have fun.

Oh, and if it has rear air, the 73-91 plastic cover has the same contours and width, if not snag the entire setup.

Yes it has the rear air. Thanks for the tip that 73 to 91 have the same plastic covers!!! That will come in handy if its damaged.
