This Cavalier Trar Raises A Lot Of Questions About Our Favorite Form Of Hilljack Hackery

Trars are a staple here at BangShift and they have been since we threw the switch to fire this thing up nearly six years ago. We like the creativity that goes into one of these things mainly because the builders don’t take themselves too seriously. They are kind of an FU to both car AND truck owners so that’s also a plus because they managed to alienate virtually every enthusiast sub group while looking strange and probably underperforming the very trucks the engines were taken from.

We don’t have the specific year of the Cavalier body on this truck but we do know that it hails from the 1980s. That era of GM styling where everything was a series of square edges and weird proportions will long haunt them. As it turns out, mounting a crappy 1980s Cavalier body onto a truck chassis with 40″ tires and mounting the fan basically outside of the thing yields a result which would be best applied to killing redneck zombies or running over meth labs.

The front fender trimming cracked us up because a large section of the wheel is still there and it looks totally out of place with the big 40″ rubber filling up the space where the original fender was “clearanced” by. The seller does not provide any pricing information for us but we’re guessing that he wants a few thousand dollars for the rig. That would be exponentially more than we’d be willing to pay but someone out there has to be looking at the Cav and thinking that they need to own it. We’re going to recommend that whoever buys this be placed on a government watch list.

I suppose IF the price is right and IF you just happen to have a GM truck body and interior in need of a frame and “turn key” running gear, then … Nah… walk away… better yet, run ’cause I hear banjos playing.

The black paint and radiator fan out front makes me think this was in Batman’s stash of “wonderful toys”, lol
