ChampTruck Racing Lives! This Video Is A Behind The Scenes Look At The First Race In New Jersey

Well, it is official. Big rig road racing lives in the USA again as the ChampTruck series recently completed their first event at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This video by the guys at Minimizer fenders is a great look behind the scenes at the humble beginnings of the series, which we hope will really catch on an become popular over the next couple of seasons. Minimizer hopes so, too. The company has invested heavily in the series and would like to see it take root.

It looks like the fans that were in attendance got a heck of a show with plenty of time to get up close and personal with the trucks and their drivers before the race and during the event there were plenty of spins, skids, off-track excursions, and close racing to keep everyone entertained. We thought the comments by the driver at the end regarding how well the machines handled were cool. These things are stripped, road-going trucks, no specially constructed racers so they have all the inherent flaws a big road truck would have trying to get around corners. That makes for fun driving and fun watching!

While racing rigs continues to be popular in Europe and South America, it fell out of favor with American racing fans and tracks in the late 1980s. ChampTruck aims to bring that fan base back in and give the manufacturers of the trucks and the equipment that they use an outlet to promote their products and wares. We’re totally stoked for this an can’t wait to see what the future brings.

We’d sure LOVE to get some shotgun laps in one of these big boys!
