Craigslist Find: This “1949 Ford” F1 Truck Is A Project Waiting For Someone To Finish It

Craigslist Find: This “1949 Ford” F1 Truck Is A Project Waiting For Someone To Finish It

If one were to envision what a completely 100% hand crafted 1949 Ford F1 riding on a Corvette chassis would look like, this may be it. Of course, that person would also be under the influence of some form of mind altering substances but this is what they would be seeing. The seller of this creation obviously has A LOT of time into its construction but we’re not quite sure it will get him the $4,300 asking price.

We’re actually not quite sure where to start with this one. The body (outside of the cab apparently) is 100% hand crafted, which you probably didn’t think when you saw it, right? There a custom visor hanging off the front of the roof, a truly interesting “bed” on the back of the cab, a custom front chin spoiler, and the quote of the day at the tail end of the ad that reads, “this truck could do 150mph.” It could do 150mph if one of the solid rocket boosters that were formerly used to launch the space shuttle into orbit were strapped to the roof. That chin spoiler will sure be working hard to keep it planted at those speeds. Seems legit.

The underpinnings are actually a C4 Corvette, which you can tell by the rear view of the truck where the IRS is on full display. The truck is titled as a Corvette so the major entertainment value here would be taking it in for a safety inspection (in states that require it) and watching the mechanic have a nervous breakdown looking at the registration paperwork and the truck.

What do you think…can it be saved and made cool or is this one beyond help?

aw, bit harsh… I reckon this one actually has potential…lose the 80’s spoiler off the front and the roof visor, fix the sides/beds to look less corvette summer and more f1 and I reckon you’d be a fair way there…the rear view needs to be made a lot more conventional looking but if you addressed those body shortcomings I reckon you’d have the basis of a good handling truck….

Ever see those finished projects that are horrible from every angle and makes you wonder what were they thinking? People say, ‘didn’t at some point, you stood back to admire your work and realize it is an abomination before you got done with it?’ It seems that in this case, this guy actually did that, and decided to throw in the towel and get rid of it. If that is the case, I at least give him props for that.

I would lose that truck body and replace it with a C4 Corvette body, then all would be right in the world.

The only person that i know who could form a car,and have it look cool was the late and great Ed Roth. A lot of people try, thinking they might have it.But as you can see by this….It failed.Who ever buys this will have a lot of parts for other projects. And the $4300.00 is too high. You could not part it out for that,C-4 Corvettes now are low in value.I am not slamming vettes,I have had a few of them.Market in my area flooded with them.

The problem with buying someone’s unfinished project is you have to tear it all apart and do it right.
In this case the chassis and body would have to go.

That thing makes the faux Corvette-Camaro body on a VW chassis look good. And THAT is a sad testament to both “creations.” Some lines should just not be crossed…
