Ford’s Quick Preview Video of The Upcoming 2017 F-150 Raptor Is Pretty Awesome

After a brief hiatus from production, the a modern legend is set to return to the Ford lineup and that is good news for those truck fans out there who like to have fun. The 2017 F-150 Raptor promises to be the most capable of the line and it will be powered by a turbocharged EcoBoost V6 that is backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission. Yes, we said 10-speed automatic. We have spent time in the previous generation Raptor and the trucks were amazingly fun to drive and capable beyond any reasonable measure that we could come up with. While this is a short and sweet teaser video, it is pretty fantastic. You’ll see the car ripping through the sand, crawling some rocks, and blowing donuts as well.

With a significant weight reduction with the lighter V6 engine and the lighter aluminum body, all those extra gears, and likely more refined suspension, this newest Raptor promises to be even more gnarly than the first generation. Yes, there were numbskulls who were angry that they were bending frames when hitting desert washouts at like 100 mph but overall the reaction and reception to these trucks has been amazing.

We’re excited to get our grubby mitts on one of these bad boys because we think that they are going to be big fun. While the majority of the trucks will never be used like the one in the video, it is pretty amazing that Ford is building them. They get crummy mileage (maybe better now with trans and smaller engine), they are not designed to tow stuff, and they are certainly not the cheapest things that roll off the lot. That being said, Ford will sell every freaking one that they want to sell as the new ones become available in the Fall of 2016!
