Lions Super Pull Of The South: A Collection Of Cool Names And Paint Jobs From The Huge Pull

Lions Super Pull Of The South: A Collection Of Cool Names And Paint Jobs From The Huge Pull

(Photos by Bryan McTaggart) – While the practice of naming racing vehicles has drifted off into the vapors in most professional competition series, it is still very much alive in the world of truck and tractor pulling. When we knew McTaggart was going to the Lions Super Pull of the South last weekend we made sure to tell him to get a gallery of names and paint jobs because both of those things are a big deal in truck and tractor pulling. Because these machines are not constantly surrounded by the imminent threat of crashing or high speed competition, the guys who run ’em dress them up and give them cool names that we dig. The brand loyalty among the competitors normally plays in to some level be it on trucks or tractors.

Just last weekend I was announcing an NHRA divisional race and saw a racer’s name pop yup that I had not watched for probably 10 years. The first thing that I remembered was that he raced a Chevy called, “Blown Out Of Control” and it was off to the races after that. The connection people have with something that has a name and some creativity invested as opposed to just a bunch of sponsor decals slapped all over it is immeasurable and pullers know it…this gallery is proof of that!

Bryan did a fine job snapping snaps of the coolest and most interesting names at the event. Check them out below!
