More Awesome Pulling Action Photos From The VDB Staalbouw Megapull – Huge European Horsepower On Display!

(Words and photos by Dennis Vos) – Saturday was a great day for some pulling action, so I packed my bag and went to Stroe, As i was on time i was taking my stroll through the Paddock I saw a shape which i thought was not going to return this season as the former owners decided that 25 years was enough for them. It was good to see the former orange Heart2Beat, back in action as BK Power Team in a gorgeous yellow livery. During their first run the team preformed excellent and even managing a full pull, resulting in a third place overall which is not a bad start for the first time

As the crowd grew, so did the tractors and soon it was time for the Modifieds. these big behemoths are always a crows pullers and sometimes causing quite a bang, but this time they behaved well and everyone went through without any major damage. But the ax went deep into the field of Superstocks, the mud of Stroe is legendary for not being forgiving and it did cause some havoc in that class. The crowd experienced a few fireballs and detonations, but in this sport this is part of the full experience. And although expensive to the owners of these tractors, it is one of the reasons people like to go to these events here.
To preserve costs and keep the sport interesting, a lower weight class was introduced a few years back and received the name “Light Modified”. the overall weight has not to exceed 2.5 tons and is called the light modifieds. This class also has quite some competition between them as they are well matched in power. due to some technical difficulties that happened through the day, it was getting quite late and finally some evening sun appeared on the horizon. Just in time for the Unlimiteds to get some well deserved sunshine after some wind and rain, the earplugs went in again and we got treated with the howl of turbines and roaring of pistons.
Due to the enormous respect in the classes for each other, we saw some beautiful things this weekend. A total rebuilt of a tractor in 4 weeks with everyone donating or bringing parts, because of a fire which destroyed the owners lifework and job. Also due to some unforeseen circumstances, Pro Stock and Super Stock changed places on the program just to get everybody on the track. This meant that because the sun set quite early due to the incoming clouds, we didn’t had a good view on the racing itself but got treated with some big flames at the end of those runs. All in all it was a great event and i can recommend our events to any Tractorpull fanatic that is traveling from abroad, there is one nearly every weekend.
