SCORE Series Gives You Some Tips and Good Info On Picking Out a Driver’s Suit

SCORE International, the series that holds the Baja 1000 along with a series of similar shorter off-road races, has assembled a great series of primers on the various aspects of off-road racing that are often overlooked or simply not considered by people new to the sport. This “World of SCORE” series is worth watching in full, but some of the presentations include many lessons applicable to all of racing. In this recent installment, Dr. Terry Trammell talks about the benefits of an SFI-rated driver’s suit with accompanying SFI-rated underwear as well as a couple of quick points on how to pick out a good suit.

As is often the case with talks of these nature, the topic isn’t particularly sexy or exciting, but if you can spare a couple minutes, you might learn something that’ll save your raw bacon in a raging car fire. Racers tend to carry the “Never gonna happen to me” attitude with them in their endeavors, but as drag racer Lyle Barnett found out last year during his crash and fire, you absolutely should plan for worst-case scenario because it’s astronomically better to have the right equipment when you need it.
