This 1994 M1070 Oshkosh Military Dump Truck Seats Six, Can Haul 60,000lbs, Has 8 Wheel Drive And Steering

Running out of room in the back of your wife’s Chevy Tahoe for groceries? Just need something to tow that new boat to the lake? Always been looking for a practical crew cab style truck? We’ve got just the thing for you in the form of this 1994 M1070 Oshkosh military dump truck. It seats six, has plenty of power with a 500hp Detroit Diesel engine, can tow (according to the seller) 231,000lbs, and it has a payload capacity of 60,000lbs. This truck was refirbed a couple of years ago and has about 5,000 miles on it. The thing is essentially brand new. Did we mention that parking lots and tight city streets will be no problem as the behemoth is equipped with eight wheel steering? Oh, and winter will no longer slow you down with eight wheel drive and mondo tires that appear ready to literally crush everything in thier way.

The cool thing is that there never actually was an M1070 dump truck and this one has been built by the seller as part of his business. The guy says in the ad that he creates about 20 of these per year as his business. The M1070 is normally the hauler used to drag M1A1 Abrams tanks around. Ditching all the trailer stuff and adding the Rowe dump body with 44″ steel sides and an additional 2″ from the nicely crafted side boards, this truck can really haul some material. With a 500hp turbocharged Detroit Diesel, it has the power to lug stuff around if not the top end with the truck wheezing about at 45-50. Hey there is even delivery available for $3.50 per mile anywhere in the USA. Pretty cool, right?

We’re not sure where the 20 trucks a year the guy builds are going but we’re guessing that the locations are remote and that the trucks get worked hard. Not that this is a beauty contest winner but look at how nicely kept the truck is. Every aspect of the thing is clean and unblemished. We’re guessing that the seller buys these monsters at auction for pennies on the dollar and is able to to turn them for the price he is because of that. $65,000 seems insanely cheap for the truck, the fabrication work, and all of it. If one of the regular truck manufacturers had built this it would be twice, three times, four times that price?

We can totally see ourselves cruising this into a car show, crabbing it into a space with the eight wheel steer, and raising the dump bed all the way up. Just because.

Big enough to pull the planet off its axis. I was wondering, you describe it as “refirbed” but I don’t see a fir bed anywhere in the pics.

    Chevy Tahoe?

It will be smaller than your little toe when this mother drives over it….

For the mighty Chevy Slayer did shaketh the Earth and drageth small planets out of their orbits.

Not to be fussy, but the HETT’s are four wheel steering, front and back axles. It is eight wheel drive though. I think he’s either exporting them, or they are being used strictly off road. They are too wide to be legal on US roads, IIRC.
