This Single Cab Dualie Has A Duramax, The Right Number Of Doors, The Ride Number Of Tires, and A Six Speed!

If there is a very rare breed in the world of the modern pickup truck it is the single cab dualie. It is getting to the point where spotting one of these things going down the road turns into a neck breaking experience. Obviously, for decades pickup trucks had two doors and outside of specialty built crew cabs, that was the industry standard. As trucks have become primary family vehicles the cabs have grown to keep everyone comfortable. That’s one of the reasons I had a blast writing this feature for Diesel Power Magazine. As much as it is the owner’s favorite truck, it is mine as well.

The owner of this truck is Chavis Fryer from the show Diesel Brothers. The rig represents his vision of the perfect truck. He bought the truck as a single rear wheel pickup out of Texas and went from there. The truck has been dropped, has had the nose swapped for 2001 HD sheetmetal, the six speed manual transmission has been equipped with a fresh clutch and the Duramax has been beefed mildly to make 600hp. This is Fryer’s literal daily driver truck so he kept it pretty mild. He has a race truck to handle all the craziness.

Perhaps our favorite part of this whole truck? Crank windows, baby!

Sick truck, you’re right single cab duellys give me whiplash when I spot em in the wild. This one has a little too much…how do you say…”diesel culture” goin on. But manual, V8, 6 tires, two seats; those are numbers I can get behind!

I love it! This is a real truck. Fuck anything power inside, that’s just unnecessary weight. It won’t cost you an arm and a leg to fix a crank window if it breaks.
