Classic YouTube: This Tire-Frying Mack Is The Stuff Lohnes Dreams About At Night

If there is one guarantee we know about Lohnes, it’s that if the truck is fast, loud and can still be used for work on a daily basis, he will go weak in the knees. If that’s the case, I don’t want to be around when he sees the footage of this Mack Superliner blowing off all eight rear tires with absolute prejudice. Set up as a pulling truck, the owner claims 950 at the wheels for this video. Something tells us that’s just the horsepower this flat-faced monolith is putting down, and that the torque spec is more along the lines of what a tugboat designed to haul an oil tanker out of the harbor is capable of. The stock EA9 V8 was good for north of 2,000 ft/lbs of torque, so there’s no telling just what this rig, a pulling truck called “Back In Black”, is really throwing down now. What we are sure of is that if it wasn’t for the ability of the rear tires to slip, that this Mack would simply churn up the asphalt with a soundtrack that was used to rock Lohnes to sleep to when he was a wee little lad. These shots were filmed at a show at the Mack Customer Service Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 2012, and we’d be willing to bet that the stripes are still visible.
