Trucks, Trucks, and ONLY Trucks From The 2015 Carl Casper Show – Big Ones, Small Ones, Short Ones, Tall Ones

Trucks, Trucks, and ONLY Trucks From The 2015 Carl Casper Show – Big Ones, Small Ones, Short Ones, Tall Ones

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – I would consider this the utility group, but I’m not sure many of these could handle much of a load these days or be pressed into hard service.  The low, patina’d F100 was recently in the back of CarCraft magazine showing its burnout prowess.  We checked out a pinstripe-flames 30s ord pickup sporting some serious flame-throwing exhaust equipment.  I’d like to see that in action – from a distance.

The most-anticipated thing for me at the show is in this gallery.  I followed the recreation Jeff Dane undertook to bring the famed, original King Kong Monster truck back to reality.  I had last seen the original truck back in the mid 1980s at Myriad Gardens during a Daryl Starbird show.  Pictures from that might eventually run on Bangshift.  Anyway, the original truck was used to create another of the Kong trucks as Monster truck racing progressed.  This recreation now resides at the Monster Truck Museum which is an annex to the Auburn museum in Indiana.  I hope to get up there soon to see what all is housed there.  The truck turned out great and was a step back in time for someone that thought monster trucks were ‘the best thing ever’ way back when.  That really hasn’t changed too much.

Enjoy.

    First, enjoyed the pictures..thank you

Second. Am I the only one sick of whitewalls, fake patina and lettering on pickup trucks….

Third, Kind Kong made me a little warm and fuzzy on the inside as did the two red Ford 4X4’s…

    Overall…good stuff…..

Just now saw this. I take pictures of what interests me. I have a lot of things that interest me. If I have seen it before and shot it – if something is different that makes me smile it’ll get shot again. Pretty much like anything except donks (or most anything with wheels bigger than 20″) and most low-riders. And yes….Kong makes me weak in the knees.

There are some other trucks in particular that didn’t get pictures taken of that I would have preferred to see over some of the ones chosen. I’m only guessing it because they were too knew because both of them were 1994 s10’s. One of which had receive more substantial awards than most in the article.
