The quality of this video isn’t awesome but the content of it very much is. The description for this clip of cool describes the motorcycle as being a 1902 Loco-Cycle steam powered motorcycle which was designed and developed by the Stanley brothers. What’s funny is that on April Fool’s day we ran a joking story about Ford creating steam powered vehicles in 2017 and calling them “Eco-Poof”….then we find this steam motorcycle video mere days later.

We’re not going to cheese you and tell you that we know a lot about how steam motorcycles work, that their history of development was aided or marred by some sort of incident, or if anyone other than the Stanley brothers did anything to try and advance their cause. The machine looks easy enough to ride and it sure gets up and moves as you’ll see. The hissing, steaming two wheeler really is something to see and hear.

Now, the dude rides around the block so there are some times when you cannot see the bike but those only last for a few seconds before you hear it chuffing again and it somes by, pouring on the coals.

This is a piece of mechanical history we didn’t know existed!

1902? Really? Wire spoke wheels and drum brakes. C’mon you’re smarter that that, at least I thought you were.
