Watch Freiburger, Rick Pewe, and Fred Williams Bring A 1950 Jeep Back To Life In Pewe’s Driveway – Cool Thrash

Watch Freiburger, Rick Pewe, and Fred Williams Bring A 1950 Jeep Back To Life In Pewe’s Driveway – Cool Thrash

We have highlighted several of the cool Dirt Every Day episodes from the MotorTrend Youtube channel over the years and they have all had Fred Williams in them doing various stuff. From converting an RV into a big off-road go kart to swapping an LSA crate engine into an ex-army pickup truck, each show has had plenty of wrenching, building, and thrashing. This episode is kind of like an all-star cast brought together to save or more accurately, revive a 1950 Jeep project that Fred recently bought. The corpse of the Jeep was brought to the home of Rick Pewe and David Freiburger also joined the pig pile to get the thing running in a couple of days. From an engine filled with water and who knows what else to a roll bar made of tubing found in fence posts, this thing was a conglomeration of badness that needed to be straightened out.

On the good side, the only real rust the Jeep had seemed to be inside the engine and the entire thing was intact. Said engine is a Buick V6, which was a popular swap back in the day. As Pewe notes at one point in the video, the previous owner seems to have performed every magazine upgrade ever explored during the 1970s (or thereabouts) when this thing was built. This is a fun video because it shows three guys who obviously like each other hanging out, wrenching, and solving the issues that this Jeep presented them with. No drama, no trumped up crap, just cool gearhead entertainment.

If I had that much JUNK in my suburban backyard, my neighbors, the town and maybe the state would be after my ass! God bless Ca. Love that 2a, work on one myself.
