This is pretty neat. BangShift.com sponsor MSD Ignition has produced a chart of many common V8 firing orders (plus the air-cooled VW), handy to hang in the shop. We've pasted it below, but you can download your own at the MSD site here.

Thank You for the chart it greatly helps, espesially the later model stuff. The only thing that I noticed was that the distributor on the Y-Block was on the wrong end of the motor. Thanks.

Your right, it's not. It's 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2. Same as the Y-Block. I looked it up.

If I'm stuck, I could always use 18436572 and have a 50/50 chance it being the right one.
