Event Coverage: 46 Photos from the Long Beach Swap Meet, 6/14/2009By Scott Liggett Posted 06/15/09

The swap meet held in Long Beach, Califoria, by Topping Events is nearly as famous as the one in Pomona. I have to admit that I like this one much better than Pomona. Yes, it's smaller in size, but it's much more focused. By that I mean you don't have to wade through tons of unautomotive related vendors trying to find what you need. The fact that it is half the distance from my house and it starts an hour later are big pluses too.

I'm going to divulge a secret to going to this swap meet. It costs the same to park and go in the pedestrian gate as it does to park in the car show/corral area much closer to the vendor areas. Bringing your classic car or truck and parking it in the car show area means less walking while carrying those heavy heads you got for a song.

This morning the car corral was practically empty when I arrived at 6:30. By 8:30, the parking lot was packed like sardines with tons of very cool cars and a few real bargains. A couple real steals too.

Thanks for the info, I noticed the long studs on the wheels of the Pontiac, looked like a sleeper.
Just a note, 55 Fords have round parklights to the inside and 56's are as seen, someone must have added the 56 front.

It's a common change or upgrade on Fords for some reason.

By the way 4250 seems like a great price ,I have seen those priced higher here in the east.

1) pic 4 )I like the more door 326 Pontiac
2)pic5) Am I correct ? I know its a 56 ,is it a Mainline ? What engine?
3) pic 12) Nice and sanitary, I like factory cars with that look.

Since the pic captions are still MIA. I'll help out these and give you the captions here on these three.

65 Pontiac Tempest:
2591 This one is for Freiburger. This crew cabbed 65 Tempest was set up with full handling suspension. The original 326 was now backed by 6 speeds. He gave me his card looking to find some Autocross clubs. Anyone?

55 Ford:
2592 OK, this 55 Ford Coupe was the steal of the show. It had a built Y block 292, top loader 4 speed, 9 inch rear diff and an asking price of $4250.

70 Cuda:
2582 The undercarriage of this Cuda was just spotless. The Dana 60 was sitting on relocated springs to make room for those huge 295/65 ET Streets. It still had the Slap Stick shifter in the console.
