It Came From the Forums: Turbo 400 Rebuilding TechBy Brian Lohnes Posted 08/25/09
Jeff Bradley is the owner of Bradley's Transmission in Indianapolis, Indiana and a guy who knows his way around a slushbox. He happens to be servicing a Turbo 400 for another BangShift.com forum member and took photos of the whole teardown and reassembly process. He makes it look easy but we know that to the average dude, an automatic transmision is black science voodoo magic.
This is a great look at a professional attacking the job of rehabing an older transmission that Jeff has no history on and no real way to really know how badly it was treated by the previous owners.
There are some special tools involved, but like anything, the more you do it the better you get.
A big thanks to:
Jeff Bradley of Bradley's Transmissions, N Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, IN, 46226

Here's a place that rents video's on transmission rebuilding.

I've rented the one on the 4L60E and found it pretty comprehensive.

Lots of people with the knowledge would not have let us in on what you do to rebuild a tranny but it's just all the more reason that I'll just take it over to you !

Excellent job, Jeff. Now I know why I hire a pro for this stuff! When I recover financially from the B'ville trip we'll talk.
