The Parting Shift: AMC EditionBy Brian Lohnes Posted 12/18/09
This video is pretty neat. The guy driving the car is quite skilled in the ways of the five-speed transmission and has no fear of doing a little no lift boogie down the drag strip. HIs technique involves fanning the clutch when shifting, not just going all hulk on the shifter and forcing it from gear to gear. It's sensible manual transmission violence.
We have no idea what motor the car has in it, but judging by the way the driver is slammin' and jammin' down the strip, the car is pretty healthy. He claims ot launch at 5,000 rpm and shift at 6,500. Sounds about right to us. And watch the brake pedal swing!
The best part of the whole thing is that the guy is taking care of business in an AMC Hornet. BangShift approved!

Any chance you guys can run a PARTING SHIFT feature on Mike Crow?
As Rob Kinnan put it best: "He bangshifts the wee out of that thing."

Yep, it's an AMC. The spaghetti impersonating a brake pedal is proof.

I learned to shift like that in high school. Was good enough to make the stock '39
transmission last about 9 months till it couldn't take one last 1-2 shift.
