One of the coolest things about the aftermarket industry is that it really exists to solve the problems that hot rodders have. For instance, all of the guys swapping EFI and big power engines into first generation Camaros had to either put a big honking fuel cell in the trunk, lay out big dough for a custom tank, or have the stock tank reworked for a hefty sum. The main problem with these options is that they are expensive and you are still in need of a fuel pump, even after the expense of the tank. Well, Aeromotive has solved this conundrum for first generation Camaros with two new part numbers for bolt in tanks that come with Stealth 340 pumps installed and ready to go…all for less than $800 bucks. Yes, $800 ain’t cheap, but it beats the snot out of what the other routes will cost you.
In typical Aeromotive fashion, these pieces are of high quality. The tanks are powder coated steel and have been internally modified with a fuel tray and baffling to make sure that the pump stays submerged in fuel when you are both low on juice and when you are running the car around the track and sloshing the go go sauce all over the place. This baffling aids in fuel delivery but also helps with pump longevity as nothing kills electric fuel pumps quicker than running them without any fuel around to cool them off. The Stealth 340 pump can support 700hp when feeding an EFI engine and 1,000hp in carb feeding mode.
You literally unbox this thing, strap it in the car, connect the wires and fuel lines and let ‘er rip. This is a pretty killer setup and a very easy way to step up the fuel tank and delivery system in your first gen Camaro without breaking the bank!
