You know it is going to be something good when the first line of the ad reads, “First off its not everyone cup of tea I understand that.” We’re glad he understands that because frankly, we have no idea who’s cup of tea this creation would be. The car is a 1982 Mercury Capri from the firewall back (mostly). It has the front clip off of a Nova, a Chevy small block engine, a flip up nose that appears to have third gen Camaro pieces in it, a Chevy 10-bolt rear end, and IMSA style flares on the back to house the mondo 295 rubber that is on all four corners.
The seller claims that it handles like a “Formula 1 car” because it has a, “quick ratio box” and “double wishbone suspension”. Four grand in greenbacks or gold will allow you to be the next owner of this car. The 355ci engine is claimed to be worth 400hp @ 5600RPM and it is backed with a TH400 transmission.
Outside of the horrendous looks, bizarre cross breeding of Nova and Mercury parts with a splash of Camaro, the car also needs chassis repair due to rust on the rear sub-frame rails. We’re thinking that we would have taken care of that when butchering the Chevy rear end into the car as we’re sure it wasn’t a bolt in situation. Maybe his budget ran low. Oh sure, it also needs new floors, extensive body work, a couple of tires, a pair of seats, a patch on the driver’s side header, and a new power steering pump. It also needs to have a wrecking ball dropped on it repeatedly from a height of 50-60 feet but that isn’t in the ad.
Yep, you guessed it…this isn’t our cup of tea.
Thanks for the tip Haywood!
