Crash Sequence Photos: Two Cars Smashing the Guardrail at the 2010 March MeetBy Chad Posted 03/4/2010
In our photos of the 2010 March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway, we happened to catch two photo sequences of cars hanging a hard right into the pit side guardrail. We don't have details on the drivers or cars, but in both cases, the safety crew was right there and it was reported that neither driver was injured. Read More >
Killer Gallery: The 2009 ADRL Season in PhotosBy Brian Lohnes Posted 01/29/2010
If you're going to have a conversation about professional drag racing these days, it damn well better include the ADRL. As the fastest growing and (in our opinion) most exciting drag racing series in the US, the ADRL has been dominating the door slammer headlines for the last several years. We're lucky enough to be pals with Ian Tocher, the VP of Publications for the organization. He's a BangShift.com member as well! Ian was cool enough to supply us with a kick ass selection of photos from the 2009 season. Read More >
Event Gallery: New Years Bracket Bash in Fontana CaliforniaBy Chad, Photos by Scott Liggett Posted 01/12/2010
While most of the country was embroiled in one of the most widespread cold spells in history, the greater Los Angeles area was enjoying temps in the mid 70s on New Years. And if that wasn't enough to make the rest of you hate Southern Californians, we had drag racing as well. You read that right. The 2010 drag racing season started on day one of 2010, with the New Years Bracket Bash at Autoclub Dragway in Fontana, California. Thanks to Scott Liggett, otherwise known as Rebeldryver on the BangShift.com forums, we've got a few pics from the event to share with all you folks still trying to defrost the family truckster. Sorry. Well, not really. Read More >
Video and Feature Story: Larry Larson's 6-Second Drag Week Nova Cruising the Vegas StripBy Chad Posted 11/30/2009
Last week we brought you video of Larry Larson's incredible, Hot Rod Drag Week winning 1966 Nova running its first ever 6-second pass at the The Strip in Las Vegas, which is amazing for a 3,500-pound car that is really street driven. Now, to prove the street statement, we've got video of Larry cruising the "other" strip in Vegas. We were there to shoot photos and video as Larry hit Fremont St. and Las Vegas Blvd on his way south to the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign, all just an hour after running 6.934 at 211.59 on Saturday during the PSCA Street Car Super Nationals. Special thanks to Mike Galiimi who helped us out by shooting photos while we shot video. Read More >

We've had another sleep deprived night here in Las Vegas at the 2009 PSCA Street Car Super Nationals, and it's not because we've been partying on the strip. In it's fifth year, the SCSN has been great. How can it not be when 53 Pro Street cars show up for a 32-car field? We've been thrashing to bring you video, on-track action photos, and new car features, and haven't stopped all weekend. Here are 60-plus photos from Sunday's action, and we'll have more video tomorrow along with a special feature. Read More >
Photo Gallery: 100-Plus Shots from the 2009 PSCA Street Car Super NationalsBy Chad Posted 11/22/2009
There's been zero sleep for the BangShift.com crew here at the 2009 PSCA Street Car Super Nationals at The Strip in Las Vegas. The West Coast's Pacific Street Car Association has thrown this race for five years straight and it keeps getting bigger and more serious. The race is sponsored by Chris Alston's Chassisworks, it pays big money to win (from $20,000 for Pro Street to $1,000 for the brackets), and pits some East Coast players against the normal PSCA crowd that runs in California and Nevada. Two Time Drag Week Winner Larry Larson Runs 6.99; More to Come This Weekend!By Chad Posted 11/19/2009
It's true! Two-time Hot Rod Drag Week winner Larry Larson just ran the quarter mile in 6.99 seconds at 194 mph in his twin-turbo, Mike Moran-powered, formerly pink Nova. We got a call from Larry's wife Sherry as he was pulling into the pit spot grinning ear to ear at the Thursday night test and tune at the PSCA Street Car Supernationals in Las Vegas. His goal all along was to finish 2009 with a 6.99-second ET before any other Drag Week competitor could do it. Mission accomplished. Read More >
Event Gallery: The 2009 Shakedown at E-TownBy Brian Lohnes Posted 11/18/2009
The Shakedown at E-Town in Englishtown, New Jersey, is the baddest ass specialty door slammer drag race in the world. It is not a series, it is an annual occurrence that seems to reset the performance boundaries of door slammers. This year the numbers were astounding with Jim Halsey running 5.86 at 243 mph in a nitrous Pro Mod. The small-tire cars, radial classes, and everything else about the race is wild, too. Read More >

Photo Gallery: Giant Cackle Fest at the 2009 California Hot Rod ReunionBy Chad Posted 10/17/2009
A couple years ago if you told us that people would fill the grandstands just to see a dragsters fire up and idle, we'd have called BS. We would have been way wrong. The Cackle Fest events, where vintage nitro cars are fired up in large packs with header flames glowing at night, have become a mainstream attraction. If there was ever a big daddy Cackle Fest, the one at the 2009 California Hot Rod Reunion was it. Read More >
