On Friday, February 27, we took a drive down to San Diego to have a look at the Big 3 Parts Exchange, an annual swap meet in San Diego, California. It's called Big 3 because it is run by three clubs: the Antique Auto Club of America, the Horseless Carriage Club of America, and the Early Ford V8 Club of America. That makes it sound like it's all about a bunch of Model A parts, but it's really much more. Today's Pomona Swap Meet started out a little slowly at 5:00 a.m. under a heavy overcast, but traffic picked up throughout the day. Even so, it was a little down in size overall and for the first time in years I walked all the cars and all the parts rows, and I gathered 108 photos for you in the process. See 'em all here in our gallery. Even with the economy slowing down it did not look like prices had dropped too much, though there were a few standout deals. After clearing 10,000 square feet of junk out of our old 7,000-square-foot shop, we had lots of stuff to get rid of. Combine that with our need for food money and it was obvious that we had to go peddle some goods at today's Long Beach Swap Meet. We ended up selling about $1,100 worth of things that we might have otherwise thrown away. Even though the meet was small this Thanksgiving weekend there were still lots of cool cars on hand, and we snapped 60-plus photos of prime SoCal rods that we're sharing with you here.
