Racing ended a little early on Monday thanks to some pretty nasty winds, but not matter what the weather, a Monday at Bonneville is way better than a Monday at work. We’ve got another batch of great photos, along with more information on Jason Line’s 200 MPH Club record in Wayne Jesel’s Dodge Truck. Somewhere around 5pm we started seeing nasty clouds, and although they didn’t bring any rain, they did bring some big boy winds. Cones were flying around, your legs got sandblasted by salt, and racing was called until tomorrow morning’s Record Return runs which we will once again bring you via cool photos.
Since we had time to kill, we went looking for Jason Line to see if we could get his take on running on the salt. Ultimately, he drank the Kool-Aid so to speak. When asked about the fact that liking this was probably going to end up costing him money since he’ll want to do it over and over again, Jason made a comment about being okay as long as his wife didn’t like it at Bonneville. I asked him how her experience had been so far and he said she thought it was really cool. Looks like Jason will need to start building a car!
Fellow Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson sent Jason a text asking him how he had done, which started some fun racer banter about how to make a Dodge run fast, and resulted in Jason informing Allen that a GM Pro Stock engine was just what the doctor ordered. I’m sure Allen will get right on that.
Jason’s record, which officially inducted him into the 200 MPH Club, was a 225.246 which is almost 36 MPH faster than the previous record. Jason’s top speed of the event was 237 MPH. We can’t wait to see Jason back on the salt, because as a serious engine builder he could come out and be fun to watch. Plus, we want to see him crawl out of the Summit Racing Equipment Chevrolet Camaro Pro Stock Car while wearing his 200 MPH Club hat.
Our Pal Lee Sicilio also made his first checkout pass in the entirely new 1969 Dodge Daytona and it was a really cool thing to watch. The crew, family, and friends were all super excited, the car practically drove itself, and the boost is going up tomorrow.

The Aussie's were on another license run, but tomorrow will be making big boy passes for a record.
We've never heard a louder small block Chevrolet. Ever. It was awesome. Although someone should tell that dude that driving from the right side is, well, wrong.
